About the House displayed at top of blog

My mother, Esther (Hoffman) Brown was raised in this house. Her mother, Beatrice (Davis) Hoffman's father and brothers built this house and several others surrounding it and on neighboring streets. The gentleman holding the little girl is the man known to me as Grandpa Davis (Daniel Davis) my mother's mother's father. That is he was my great grand father on my mother’s side. One of the girls in this photo is my Grandmother Beatrice Davis. The house sits on a small but semi-steep hill overlooking the town of Glendale, Pa. My grandfather Chuck Hoffman cut the grass on this hill with a push spindle lawn cutter until he was about 74 years old. I took over at that point for a year or two, followed by my brothers Bob and Eric in succession until Grandpa passed away at nearly 80 years old. It was no easy task to cut the grass on this little hill. We have great memories on playing all around this house.

Brown Favorite Quotes

"It's not the facts of our situation that cause trouble - it's our interpretation of the facts." Paul Tripp

"Humility is the mother of all virtues; purity, charity and obedience. It is in being humble that our love becomes real, devoted and ardent. If you are humble nothing will touch you, neither praise nor disgrace, because you know what you are. If you are blamed you will not be discouraged. If they call you a saint you will not put yourself on a pedestal." Mother Teresa

"In football there are two kinds of people; the humble and the to be humbled." Coach Bill Cowher, Post Gazette

"I have no window to look into men's souls." Queen Elizabeth, 1558 upon taking the throne following her wicked sister's (Queen Mary) death and was pressed to judge others.
